German companies ARX Robotics and DEUTZ have delivered to Ukraine the first Gereon unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) produced at the DEUTZ plant in Ulm.

“ARX Robotics and DEUTZ have delivered the first Gereon unmanned ground systems manufactured at the DEUTZ plant in Ulm, just 12 weeks after announcing the start of their joint production scale-up,” the press release said.
The company said the systems are intended for Ukraine’s Defence Forces and will expand the existing fleet of Gereon systems already in use. The first batch is part of a larger contract, with production expected to be scaled up further.
“Europe’s armed forces need thousands of unmanned ground systems within a very short period of time in order to operate effectively in today’s threat environment. Europe has both the technological innovation and the industrial base to meet this need. The question is how quickly we can move new technologies from development to production and ultimately into military use,” said Marc Wietfeld, co-founder and CEO of ARX Robotics.
According to Wietfeld, the partnership with DEUTZ demonstrates how production of systems urgently needed by the military can be rapidly scaled up.
Under the partnership, ARX Robotics is responsible for system development, software and integration, while DEUTZ provides manufacturing capacity and expertise in industrial-scale production. The companies intend to increase Gereon production volumes over the coming months.
ARX Robotics says its unmanned ground platforms are already used by the armed forces of several European countries, while its fleet of systems deployed in Ukraine is the largest among Western-made unmanned ground systems.
