After the Russian missile attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv, Germany has evacuated and admitted eight children who were previously treated there.

This was reported by the German Ministry of the Interior.

The children, aged between a few months and 15 years, are mostly oncology patients. They are accompanied by a total of ten close relatives.

Since March 2022, severely injured and seriously ill individuals from Ukraine have been evacuated and medically treated in Germany and other EU countries due to Russia's illegal war of aggression. Almost 1,150 people have been evacuated to Germany and treated in hospitals across the country. This includes both civilians and soldiers, many of whom have lost limbs and suffered gunshot and explosion injuries.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser stated,

"The missile strike on the children's clinic in Kyiv has once again demonstrated the incomprehensible inhumanity with which Putin is waging his aggressive war against Ukraine. That is why we continue our humanitarian support for Ukraine with all our strength. Today we are evacuating eight seriously ill children along with close relatives who were treated in the destroyed children's clinic. They will receive the best possible care in Germany. Previously, we have evacuated almost 1,150 severely wounded, injured, and ill Ukrainians. This assistance is a humanitarian imperative. Our clinics, aid organizations, and authorities are doing an outstanding job, for which I am extremely grateful."

Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach added,

"After the brutal bombing of the children's hospital in Kyiv by Vladimir Putin, we are doing everything to help our Ukrainian friends. The affected seriously ill children must not become further victims of this criminal war of aggression. We will provide them with excellent care in German specialized clinics, as we had immediately promised. Our help is meant to give Ukraine hope: We will not abandon Ukraine."
