German Minister of State for Europe, Anna Lührmann, on Monday, December 11, confirmed a twofold increase in military aid to Ukraine next year. She made this announcement before the start of the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

"The Federal Republic of Germany will double its military support to Ukraine next year - from 4 billion euros to 8 billion," said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to her, this week is also crucial, as partners want to open negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership. The diplomat assured that Germany continues to firmly stand on the side of Ukraine.

"The position of the Federal Republic of Germany is very clear here. 26 EU members are very united in wanting to start such negotiations," Lührmann noted and expressed hope that this will happen despite Hungary's position.
