Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni confirmed her readiness to support a possible ceasefire through initiatives focused on monitoring and training outside Ukraine’s borders.

This was reported by the Italian government’s press service following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris.

It is noted that Meloni participated online in today’s meeting of coalition leaders.

During her speech, she once again presented her proposal for a collective security mechanism modeled on Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty as a key element of the political component of security guarantees for Ukraine.

“Confirming that Italy is not prepared to send its troops to Ukraine, Meloni reaffirmed her openness to supporting a possible ceasefire through monitoring and training initiatives beyond Ukraine’s borders,” the statement said.

The Italian Prime Minister also joined a subsequent phone conference with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the results of today’s meeting were discussed and unity was reaffirmed in striving for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

“This can only be achieved through an approach that combines continuous support for Ukraine, the pursuit of ending hostilities, maintaining collective pressure on Russia — including through sanctions — and reliable, credible security guarantees, which must be defined in a spirit of cooperation between the two sides of the Atlantic,” the statement emphasized.
