The armed forces of Belarus have started maneuvers on Tuesday in regions bordering Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland.

This was reported by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, according to BELTA.

Within the framework of a comprehensive check of territorial defense of the Gomel region from April 2 to 4, under the leadership of the military commissar of the Gomel region, command and staff exercises with territorial defense forces of the Rogachev and Kormyansky districts will be held.

The aim of the exercises is to assess the readiness of officials of territorial defense units to perform training and combat tasks, improve the skills of reserve officers in leadership, and teach personnel to fulfill their duties during territorial defense tasks. Similar exercises will take place from April 2 to 4 in the Voronovsky district of the Grodno region.

"During the exercises, issues of protection and defense of the territorial defense object, as well as participation in the provision of measures of military state with the involvement of volunteers from the people's militia, will be worked out," the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

The Defense Ministry also reported that from April 2 to 26, under the leadership of the head of the Vileika district executive committee of the Minsk region, training sessions will be held with military conscripts of territorial defense units.

"As part of the training, military conscripts of territorial defense units will be received and comprehensively provided with the involvement of the local mobilization deployment base," the ministry explained.

In addition, during the gathering, it is planned to prepare military conscripts for the performance of tasks according to military-professional specialties and official appointments, restore the skills of the command staff of district and battalion staffs of territorial defense units in managing subordinates, as well as work out issues of formation, training, and application of people's militia units.

Since March 11, Belarus has been conducting a check of the combat readiness of its armed forces. Among other things, communication troops, anti-aircraft missile units, and air defense units are currently undergoing training. At least 3,000 reservists are involved in the training. It is also reported that "Wagnerites" (part of the mercenaries from the so-called Wagner Group disbanded by the Kremlin, who were supposed to stay in Belarus) are taking part in them.
