From May 1st to May 16th, only passengers with boarding passes will be allowed into Chisinau Airport. This step is dictated by security requirements at the airport.
According to NewsMaker, the head of the Moldovan Border Police Ruslan Galushka stated,
"From May 1st, we are changing the access rules to Chisinau Airport. Only citizens with boarding passes will be able to enter the airport. All others, including those meeting passengers, must wait outside the airport."
The Border Police specified that these new rules will be in effect at the Moldovan capital's airport until May 16th. Access to the airport terminal will only be permitted for passengers, airport staff, and airline crew members. Travelers will be admitted to the airport only upon presenting a ticket and a valid ID document, which will be checked by security.
"After this procedure, the passenger will undergo registration, a check by security service staff, document verification, and customs control. Then the passenger will wait for the flight in the waiting area," explained border guards.
Citizens were warned about the revised border control and passenger registration procedures at Chisinau Airport on April 25th. Travelers were advised to arrive at the airport three hours before departure to allow enough time to complete all necessary procedures.
It is noted that during the past week, reports of airport and aircraft bomb threats have become more frequent, but in all cases, information about bombs being planted turned out to be false.
