In Finland, a citizen of France, Gabriel Temin, was sentenced to nine months of conditional imprisonment for violating export restrictions, reports Helsingin Sanomat. According to the publication, this is the first verdict in the country related to violations of sanctions against Russia.

As the newspaper writes, Temin is the CEO of Finnish companies Luminor and Siberica, which are engaged in international transportation and warehouses. The businessman was arrested in September 2023. According to the prosecution, his companies were sending various products to Russia in circumvention of sanctions.

In particular, the accusation alleges that the businessman's companies supplied about three thousand drones and components to Russia. In addition, Luminor purchased equipment from a Taiwanese company for drone interception worth about 400 thousand dollars, which was later sold to Kazakhstan. The company did not have the necessary permission to export such products, and the delivery was made in transit through Russia. According to the prosecution, the equipment could have remained in Russia.

The prosecutor requested a four-year prison sentence for Temin, however, the court dismissed most of the charges. According to the court, there was no evidence presented in the case that the products were supplied to Russian companies or remained in Russia.

As a result, the businessman was found guilty only on two counts. The first concerned the supply of defense equipment to Kazakhstan without permission, and the second concerned the supply of tools from Germany to Russia, which were subject to export restrictions. In the documents, Kazakhstan was indicated as the destination for these tools, however, they were sent to St. Petersburg. The businessman was also ordered to transfer 11 thousand euros received by the companies from illegal activities to the state.
