In Germany, the police have reported a significant increase in anti-Semitic crimes.

This is reported by Rheinische Post with reference to a parliamentary inquiry from the Left Party faction in the Bundestag.

In the third quarter of 2023, the police recorded 540 anti-Semitic crimes, which is significantly higher than in previous quarters: 379 in the first and 446 in the second.

The publication notes that these figures do not yet account for events that occurred after the attack by Hamas militants on Israel on October 7 and numerous anti-Semitic attacks that followed in Germany.

Furthermore, the given data is preliminary, and sometimes the final numbers may be even higher.

Of the 540 anti-Semitic crimes in the third quarter of 2023, 14 were acts of violence, and 44 were propaganda crimes.

Most of them, 450, were categorized as right-wing crimes.

The majority of anti-Semitic crimes were reported in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg (87), Brandenburg (63), Bavaria, and Lower Saxony (each with 48).
