Since the Russian attack on Ukraine in February 2022, Western countries have imposed several packages of sanctions against Russian individuals and entities, as well as against entire sectors of the Russian economy.

Incidents involving passenger planes have become more frequent in Russia. Due to the departure of Western suppliers of spare parts, air transport began to break down more often, writes The Moscow Times.

It is noted that over the past 2022 in Russia, there were more than 130 incidents with air transport, including 28 air crashes. Since the beginning of 2023, at least 7 aviation incidents have already been recorded.

Industry experts are expressing concern about what is happening. The reasons for the increased number of incidents are not directly named, but the context is indicated - the departure of spare parts suppliers.

For example, last year, Boeing and Airbus stopped deliveries of new aircraft and spare parts for already operated aircraft to Russia. This forced Russian companies to cannibalize part of the fleet - to dismantle some aircraft for parts to repair others.
