On October 1, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities began the process of reviewing the maximum electricity prices for the "day-ahead" market, intraday market, and balancing market.
These tariffs only apply to businesses.
According to the regulator's press service, the decision will not affect fixed electricity prices for the population.
The review process will include public discussions where all interested market participants can submit their suggestions. The need to revise electricity prices stems from the requirement to ensure conditions for commercial imports of electricity from Europe to cover potential power shortages during the autumn-winter period, especially amid possible Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system.
The new tariffs are expected to take effect on October 31, 2024. The proposed maximum prices are as follows:

For the "day-ahead" and intraday markets:
- 00:00 to 07:00 – 5,600 UAH/MWh
- 07:00 to 17:00 and 23:00 to 24:00 – 6,900 UAH/MWh
- 17:00 to 23:00 – 9,000 UAH/MWh
- Minimum price – 10 UAH/MWh

For the balancing market:
- 00:00 to 07:00 – 6,600 UAH/MWh
- 07:00 to 17:00 and 23:00 to 24:00 – 8,250 UAH/MWh
- 17:00 to 23:00 – 10,000 UAH/MWh
- Minimum price – 0.01 UAH/MWh
This revision will increase the maximum price for the "day-ahead" and intraday markets between 11:00 and 17:00 from 5,600 UAH/MWh to 6,900 UAH/MWh.
As for households, electricity tariffs remain regulated by a government resolution. Over the past two years, household electricity prices have significantly increased.
