The level of support for Ukrainian refugees in the EU remains at a high level, although it has decreased compared to the previous year. 79% of citizens in EU countries approve of accepting refugees from the war (compared to 88% last year).
These findings are from the "Migration Atlas," a study released by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC). The new edition includes a special thematic section on EU solidarity trends regarding resettlement of refugees from Ukraine.
The level of approval for accepting Ukrainians has decreased the most in the Czech Republic (58% from 77%), Slovenia (66% from 89%), and Slovakia (58% from 76%). The only country where support for Ukrainian refugees increased was Denmark (from 89% to 90.8%). Portugal has the highest level of support (93.7% compared to 96.2% in 2022).
In 2023, the percentage of respondents expressing support for providing shelter to Ukrainians in EU countries is as follows:

At the same time, among EU countries, Germany (1,215,365 people), Poland (960,620), and the Czech Republic (364,450) have accepted the highest number of Ukrainian refugees.
