The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has expanded its Ultimate railway product line with a new specialized item — the ULT 70 wheelset for freight wagons. The first batch has already been shipped to a client in France, where they are successfully used on car-carrying trains.
According to the company’s press service, trains designed for transporting automobiles require a special technical solution.
Frédéric Simonneau, Railway Products Sales Manager for the European market:
"Car carriers require a special kind of wheelset. Due to the tall wagons that accommodate at least two automobiles stacked on top of each other, the bogie must be quite compact. As a result, the required wheel diameter is reduced to 730–760 mm. Following extensive research, our R&D team developed a KLW alternative to the standard design."
He added that, following a series of studies, the company’s engineering team developed an alternative to the standard designs previously used by the French customer.
The ULT 70 wheelsets combine the key advantages of the Ultimate line — high-strength wheels and improved braking efficiency. Products of this class have already received high praise from European wagon manufacturers and leasing companies, who recognize them as among the best on the market in terms of operational performance.
