Leaders of major European countries have agreed to uphold close coordination ahead of a new round of negotiations aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Italian government announced.
On Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held phone calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“It was agreed to maintain close coordination among partners ahead of the new round of talks aimed at achieving a ceasefire and a peace agreement in Ukraine,” the statement said.
During the call, President Zelensky and Prime Minister Meloni also discussed potential venues for negotiations with Russia.
