The Italian Embassy in Ukraine said on Sunday that it would remain in Kyiv despite threats from Russia.
For several weeks, rumors have been circulating among the diplomatic community in Kyiv of embassies planning to leave the city in anticipation of intensified Russian missile attacks this coming winter.
Some foreign embassies are considering temporarily moving their headquarters to Lviv, considered safer than the Ukrainian capital.
The Italian diplomatic mission announced this on Facebook.
“Together with other heads of diplomatic missions in Kyiv, we note with concern the threats made by the Russian Foreign Ministry against diplomats and foreign nationals in Ukraine. Russia is obliged to comply with the Vienna Convention and international humanitarian law. We are staying in Kyiv,” Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Carlo Formosa said.
