At the Museum of Arts of Prykarpattia, a project has been completed to digitize the Collegiate Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 17th century — one of the oldest sacred monuments in Ivano-Frankivsk. The project allows for the creation of a detailed digital 3D model of the church’s interior and decorations, according to the project organizers.

“The result of the work is an accurate digital 3D model of the Baroque church, preserving unique elements of the frescoes and architectural forms, as well as orthophotographs of the interior decoration,” the Museum of Arts of Prykarpattia stated.

As part of the project, specialists from the Lviv-based company Skeiron carried out high-precision photogrammetry and 3D scanning of the architectural space and artistic frescoes of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to the museum, the digital materials have already been made available on an international platform for wide access by researchers and the public.

The initiative was supported by a grant from the European Union under the House of Europe program.

The Collegiate Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a monument of Baroque architecture from the 17th–18th centuries and currently functions as the Museum of Arts of Prykarpattia. During the Soviet period, the church lost its original function, and since 1980 its premises have housed the museum’s exhibition.
