The famous Odessa artist Lesya Verba, writer, singer, creator of several murals and research books about the history of Odessa songs, will give a concert in New York. Lesya dedicates the concert to her teachers: Tatyana Boeva, Yuri Kuznetsova and Eleonora Shapkina. This concert and exhibition will be Lesia's debut project in New York.
The musical evening is titled "All That Jazz" and will take place at Café/Lounge Tete-a-Tete in Brooklyn, this coming Sunday, December 5th, at 8pm. The scenery for the concert will be an exhibition of Lesya's works, an exposition of graphics "Born to be wild". Lesya created a real neon jungle, an abundance of symbols and colours; these are graphics and irony, born in Odessa.
Lesya will perform as part of a jazz trio together with sacosphonist Boris Kurganov and pianist Paul Ode.
Boris Kurganov is a saxophonist and violinist. In his rich creative biography, he participated in the International Jazz Festivals - in Copenhagen in 1990 and in Montreal together with the Gregory Fine quartet in 1997. Since moving to New York in 2000, he has performed on many stages of many popular jazz venues: Soul Cafe, Le Bar Bat, Birdland and Carnegie Hall with such outstanding jazz performers as Art Lillard, Paul Bollenback, Marco Panascia and others.
Paul Odet is a pianist who has worked with such prominent performers as Ron Carter, Roy Hargrove, George Coleman, Curtis Lundy and Wycleff Gorden. Paul is a participant in the Newport and Montreal jazz festivals. He is the regular pianist of Artie Shaw's big band. Paul Odet also teaches jazz at Lincoln Center, continuing to perform at the best venues in New York.
