NATO member countries will increase their support for Ukraine, as stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting held in Brussels on August 28.
"Allies have confirmed that they will enhance military assistance to Ukraine. We must continue to provide Ukraine with the equipment and ammunition needed to defend against Russia's invasion. This is vital for Ukraine's ability to keep fighting," Stoltenberg was quoted on the alliance's website.
The meeting, held at the ambassadorial level, included Ukrainian Minister Rustem Umerov via video link.
The session, called by Ukraine, discussed recent massive Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
NATO diplomats informed that the meeting also covered the Ukrainian operation in Kursk. Minister Umerov updated on recent Russian air attacks, the combat situation in Donbas, and the objectives of the Kursk operation. He thanked allies for recent assistance promises and the delivery of F-16 aircraft.
On the morning of August 29, Brussels will host a meeting of EU member states' foreign ministers, with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also in attendance. On August 30, EU member states' defense ministers will hold an informal meeting.
