Ukraine is one of the world leaders in the development and testing of technologies on the battlefield.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated this during the first meeting on the implementation of the Political Declaration on Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Military Sphere. The event was organized by the United States of America.
"Ukraine uses artificial intelligence to save lives by developing defense technologies, while Russia, for example, applies AI to its 'Shahed' drones, destroying everything within the reach of its weapons: hospitals, educational institutions, children's homes, and so on," noted Kateryna Chernogorenko.
Last year, 46 countries, including Ukraine, the United States, Japan, and other countries from Africa, Europe, and North America, signed the Political Declaration on Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Military Sphere at the initiative of the United States.
This initiative contributes to the creation of an international system of responsibility. It is noteworthy that Russia is not among the signatories.
"Ukraine is one of the world leaders in the development and testing of new technological solutions on the battlefield. We have solutions on how to effectively use AI in the development of unmanned systems. Some options have already been tested and are even being used on the front lines," shared Kateryna Chernogorenko.
Background: In 2020, the Government of Ukraine adopted Order No. 1556-r "On Approval of the Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine." The implementation of the Concept is planned until 2030. A Roadmap for the implementation of the Concept for 2021-2024 was also approved.
