The aggressor state Russia has already suffered a strategic defeat in the war against Ukraine, but there is no other way to break through the Russian defense lines on the battlefield except through active actions.

This was stated by the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Kyrylo Budanov, in an exclusive interview with "Crimea. Realities" on Radio Liberty.

"How to overcome the Russian defense lines? It's difficult, through blood. Only with our own blood, unfortunately. There is no other option. I'm sorry, but this is war. You need to break through the defense lines, which is ultimately what is being done now," said Budanov.

"If they have established defense lines with trenches, obstacles, mine barriers, concrete-filled bunkers, then no matter what tricks you try, the only thing you can do is simply destroy them. There is no other way," he added.

Kyrylo Budanov noted that in a strategic sense, Russia has already experienced a defeat in the war, and besides human resources, the aggressor state lacks sufficient resources to continue the war.

"I was very fond of the subject of 'logic' in the military institute. Let's approach this from the opposite side. If everything is fine in Russia, the military-industrial complex is expanding its capabilities, reserves are inexhaustible, as many experts there [say], then why are they trying to acquire ammunition from North Korea, from Iran? No, not to prolong the war, but because they have nothing," stated the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"Besides human resources, there is no other resource left for Putin: no economy, no military-industrial complex, military reserves are already depleted. Only human resources remain," he noted.

The head of Ukraine's Military Intelligence emphasized that due to the human resources, which the Kremlin thoughtlessly expends on the war, the aggressor can continue to hold occupied territories for a long time. Only active actions from Ukraine can hinder such a scenario.

During the interview, Kyrylo Budanov also pointed out the main mistake of the Russian dictator.

"Putin has made a lot of mistakes. He has become completely detached from reality. This is his main mistake—not in calculations, but in the fact that he has become disconnected from reality," stated the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"Look at Russia now—it's a diplomatic outcast. This has already happened. Look at the financial level, the economy, and so on. And why go far—just look at the exchange rate of the dollar. So is it winning? Definitely not," Kyrylo Budanov explained
