Latvia plans to sign a long-term support and security agreement with Ukraine on April 11th. The signing may take place at the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Vilnius.

According to Delfi, the agreement, to be signed by Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, is primarily political in nature and does not carry mandatory legal force. It will serve as a clear and firm signal of support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression.

The agreement encompasses all forms of long-term assistance to Ukraine in defense against aggression, as well as support for Ukraine's path to membership in the European Union and NATO. Additionally, Latvia commits to providing military assistance to Ukraine amounting to 0.25% of its gross domestic product this year and over the next two years.

On Wednesday, April 3rd, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Finnish President Alexander Stubb signed a security guarantee agreement.

It's worth noting that the United Kingdom was the first country to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. Historical agreements have also been signed by Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, and Italy.

Other partner countries are also in negotiations with Ukraine regarding the conclusion of similar agreements.
