Latvia will provide Ukraine with hundreds of units of computer equipment and specialized gear for its armed forces free of charge.

This decision was made during a government meeting on Tuesday, as reported by LSM.

According to the announcement, Latvia's Internal Security Bureau will donate jackets, boots, fleece jackets, one drone with a bag and battery, and several binoculars for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In response to requests from Ukrainian government institutions in need of office equipment, Latvia has also arranged to transfer 845 computers, including laptops, 269 monitors, and other devices. The equipment will be received by the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the Bila Tserkva District State Administration in Kyiv region, the Kyiv National Military University, and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

Latvia's Ministry of the Interior explains that its subordinate agencies need to replace their computer equipment to ensure that new operating systems can be used, reducing the risk of cyberattacks. However, most of the replaced equipment is still in working condition and can be safely reused in contexts with lower cybersecurity requirements or without internet connectivity.
