Lithuanian Defense Resources Agency purchases drones from 5 local manufacturers for 8 million euros

According to  the Lithuanian Minister of Defense, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, as quoted by Delfi, has announced that the Lithuanian Defense Resources Agency is purchasing drones from five local manufacturers for a total of 8 million euros.

The purchased drones will be delivered to the Lithuanian army and the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Defense Resources Agency has signed contracts with five Lithuanian companies: Dangolakis, RSI Europe, Ltmiltech, Granta Autonomy, and Unmanned Defense Systems.

The Lithuanian army will receive over 2,300 FPV drones for 3 million euros, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces will get nearly 5,000 drones of the same type for 5 million euros.

The drones for both Ukraine and the Lithuanian army will come with all necessary accessories, equipment, and training for operation and management.

"We aim to encourage the production of drones and anti-drones in Lithuania... The tests conducted in Ukraine and the signing of contracts are a significant boost and a meaningful step for our drone manufacturers. This purchase is undoubtedly related to fundamental national security interests," Kasčiūnas said.

The first drones are expected to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of September this year, with all drones being delivered to both the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Lithuanian army by the end of the year.
