A Memorandum of Understanding regarding the creation of a mechanism to support Ukraine's security and defense forces through contributions to the Ukrainian defense industry opens new opportunities for Lithuanian investments in Ukraine's defense sector and promotes the expansion of strategic partnership between our countries.
Lithuania will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones. The corresponding Memorandum was signed today in Vilnius by Lithuanian Minister of Defense, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, and the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
"This is a long-term agreement, within which the first tranche of 10 million euros has already been agreed upon. Lithuania is directing these funds towards the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons, including the 'Palyanytsya' project. The Lithuanian side is already working on finalizing bureaucratic procedures, and the first tranche to support Ukrainian DeepStrike will be transferred soon," stated Ukraine's Minister of Defense.
