Luxembourg will provide 10 million euros to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Development Cooperation, and Humanitarian Affairs, Xavier Bettel, signed a memorandum regarding financial assistance in the energy sector.

“These funds will be used to support energy sector projects, including the restoration and strengthening of energy security,” emphasized the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

In addition to energy system stability, the Prime Minister discussed bilateral relations and the development of innovations in the defense industry with Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, as well as with Luxembourg’s Minister of Defense, Mobility, Public Works, Gender Equality, and Diversity, Yuriko Backes, along with the needs of Ukrainian military forces. This year, Luxembourg plans to allocate 80 million euros in military aid to Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal thanked Luxembourg for its defense support and participation in military coalitions.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia, as it is an effective tool for influencing the aggressor.

“Russia must pay for the destruction, and we call on our partners to develop a legal mechanism that will allow the confiscation of frozen Russian assets and direct them toward the reconstruction of Ukraine,” stated Denys Shmyhal.

The meeting also focused on Ukraine’s reconstruction.

"We greatly appreciate the implementation of reconstruction projects by the Luxembourg Development Agency, LuxDev, particularly its active involvement in the reconstruction of Kryvyi Rih. We rely on continued support from LuxDev, especially in the area of humanitarian demining," the Prime Minister emphasized and thanked Luxembourg for all the assistance provided in various areas.
