French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the results of his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky in Ukrainian.
Macron wrote that France, together with European partners and in cooperation with the United States, “continues to support Ukraine in its search for a path toward a just and lasting peace.”
“Since Russia continues to oppose an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, we have decided to increase pressure on Moscow,” he added.
Macron also welcomed the adoption of new sanctions by the United States, as well as the sanctions agreed today by the European Union, emphasizing that “peace is necessary.”
The Office of the President earlier reported that during the meeting, Macron and Zelensky paid special attention to strengthening defense cooperation and coordinated their positions ahead of the upcoming “Coalition of the willing” meeting.
The “Coalition of the willing” will convene in London on October 24.
