The painting which was saved from the Maria Prymachenko Museum bombed by Russia "Flowers grew near the fourth power unit" was sold at auction for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for $ 500,000.
The starting price of the painting "Flowers grew around the fourth block" by the world-famous artist Maria Primachenko was $ 5,000. The auction winner was the participant â„–35, who offered $ 500,000 for the painting.
All funds from the auction will go to the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The painting “Flowers grew near the fourth power unit†was created in 1990. Symbolically, the Russian invaders recently received a lethal dose of radiation near the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The painting “Flowers grew near the fourth power unit†from the series dedicated to the Chernobyl tragedy was donated by the family of collector Igor Ponamarchuk and art historian Daria Dobriyan, who are now volunteers at the Foundation. It's also know that the artist’s family supported the charity auction and waived royalties from the sale of the painting in favor of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Maria Prymachenko is a Ukrainian folk artist in the genre of "naive art". Laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after TG Shevchenko. Honored Art Worker of the Ukrainian SSR, People's Artist of Ukraine.
