For the first time in Ukraine, the Day of Odessa Black will be celebrated at the birthplace of this variety, at the V.E. Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking, where the variety was bred over 50 years ago! This is the only local red grape variety that serves as an ambassador for Ukrainian wine worldwide! Today, in Ukraine, more than 20 producers work with this grape variety.

The purpose of the event is to emphasize the important role of local grape varieties in Ukrainian winemaking, to draw attention to the importance of establishing a National Day of Odessa Black (May 5), to conduct a comparative professional and "popular" tasting of all styles of wines and spirits from the "Odessa Black" variety, practical acquaintance of guests with the presented samples, and determination of the best wines by nominations ("Petnat" rosé, dry rosé, dessert rosé, dry red without aging, dry red with aging, dessert red, unaged distillate, aged distillate).

The event will start with a scientific conference by the V.E. Tairov Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking, followed by professional and "popular" tastings of the presented samples.
