The Strategic Leadership Course (SLC) for security and defense sector representatives has been developed through collaboration between the National Defense University of Ukraine and the Swedish Defense University, with support from the Ministry of Defense's Department of Military Education and Science and NATO's DEEP military education enhancement program.

The SLC aims to create an educational environment for leaders as change ambassadors, focusing on the effective application of existing experience combined with analytical tools and strategic decision-making mechanisms under pressure and uncertainty.

"Thanks to the agreements with our Swedish partners and the support of the NATO DEEP program, we have combined efforts to create an English-language strategic leadership course that will be the pinnacle of the professional education hierarchy L-1 to L-5, completing the development of the professional military education system according to NATO standards," emphasized Vladimir Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science at the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

The course will enable comprehensive professional training and qualification enhancement for leaders and specialists within central and local executive bodies, local self-government bodies, and security and defense sector management agencies.

Training will be conducted in a hybrid format: online, offline in Ukraine, and abroad. In addition to academic modules and intensive workshops, participants will visit EU and NATO structures to understand the implementation of process and relationship models, and to exchange knowledge and experience.

The SLC is expected to receive NATO certification in the future and become available to the entire European and Euro-Atlantic community.

The course presentation featured Camilla Unsgard, Program Director of International Programs at the Swedish Defense University (SLC course coordinator), Vladimir Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science, General Major Oleg Shinkaruk, Head of the Professional Military Education Institute "Leaders Training" at the National Defense University of Ukraine, and Colonel Stasis Paldaunas (Republic of Lithuania), Advisor on Professional Military Education.
