India believes that no war ends on the battlefield and supports diplomatic efforts for a swift conclusion to the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a briefing in Warsaw with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

"The situation in Ukraine and in the Western Asia region raises serious concerns. We are deeply convinced that there is no problem or conflict that can be resolved on the battlefield. Innocent people lose their lives in every crisis, which is a huge challenge for all of civilization. Therefore, we support dialogue and diplomatic efforts for the fastest possible restoration of peace and stability," Modi said.

He added that India is ready to cooperate with other friendly nations to ensure as much support as possible for peacekeeping efforts to restore peace in Ukraine.

For his part, Tusk expressed satisfaction with Modi's confirmation of personal commitment to a peaceful, just, and swift resolution to the war.

"We are both convinced that India can play a very important and positive role here," Tusk emphasized.

He added that Modi’s declaration is particularly significant as the Indian Prime Minister is set to arrive in Kyiv within a few hours.

"We are all convinced that his (Modi's visit to Kyiv) could be of strategic and historical importance," highlighted the Polish Prime Minister.

Tusk also expressed belief that the involvement of India, as well as Poland and the entire EU, is "key to establishing lasting peace in this part of the world."

"I am absolutely convinced that your role, Prime Minister (Modi), can be very important, and we look forward to the first results of your participation in peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine," Tusk emphasized.
