The head of the Joint Press Center of the Joint Forces Operation "South," Natalia Humeniuk, stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold their position in the village of Krynky on the left bank of the Kherson region. She made this statement during an interview on the Radio Liberty.

"We continue to hold our position. By the way, it is not the only one; we are working to ensure that these positions are securely fortified," said Humeniuk.

She added that during the current day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces recorded two attempts by Russian troops to storm the position.

"In fact, on the eve of their declaration of victory, there were 16 such attempts to storm it. They are preparing and creating the appropriate atmosphere to claim this victory," Humeniuk added.

Humeniuk attributed the suddenness of the statements from Russian leadership to the approaching day of the presidential elections in Russia.

"It was a premature, reverent attempt before entering the most active phase of preparation for the elections. We warned earlier that there could be manipulation before the start of the election hysteria in Russia," noted Humeniuk.

She explained the need to maintain Ukrainian positions in Krynky as "strategically important for further advancement on the left bank of the Kherson region." However, Humeniuk acknowledged that "the success of this operation in the past cost many resources and the lives of servicemen."

"This is a very complex and costly operation in every sense. Costly, primarily because of the loss of human lives. But we understand that in wartime, there is a need to conduct operations, even those that may be as risky as crossing to the other side and holding a position there," said Humeniuk.
