Russia launched more than 100 attack drones at Ukraine overnight on October 2, including nearly 50 jet-powered drones.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this.
“Last night, the Russians launched more than 100 attack drones at Ukraine, including nearly 50 jet-powered ones. Our warriors neutralised most of them, but unfortunately, there were also hits. In Kyiv, Shahed drones struck the Pivdennyi Bridge several times. In the morning, a residential high-rise building was hit. Unfortunately, one person was killed. My condolences to the family and loved ones. In Kherson, the Russians ‘defeated’ a kindergarten; in Kharkiv, they attacked a grocery store, and an institute and critical infrastructure were damaged,” Zelensky said.
According to him, residential high-rise buildings in Kramatorsk and Sumy were also hit. Russian forces attacked the Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Poltava and Rivne regions. So far, four people are known to have been injured in the overnight Russian attack. Emergency services are working wherever necessary.

“No matter how much Moscow tries to fully localise the production of its drones and missiles, its escalation still critically depends on foreign components. These supply chains run from Europe, the United States, China, Japan and many other countries. Most of these companies are well-known manufacturers, yet their components continue to reach Russia,” Zelensky stressed.
He emphasised that every Russian drone could effectively be stopped while still on the production line.

“What is needed is political will from these countries. If the Kremlin has chosen more strikes, sanctions must work and must be strengthened. I thank everyone who is helping,” Zelensky added.
