Nibulon has started the sowing campaign for winter rapeseed for the 2024 harvest season using advanced technology. This information was reported by the agroholding's press service.

The company is experimenting with two different approaches to sowing. On one hand, they are using the traditional method of soil cultivation and sowing with grain drills. On the other hand, they are implementing the strip-till technology in the Mykolaiv cluster. As a result, almost 3,000 hectares of rapeseed have already been sown during the past week.

"The strategic decision to limit the rapeseed sowing areas for the 2024 season, concentrating them only in Mykolaiv, is based on economic calculations and aimed at maximizing yield and rational resource utilization," the announcement states.

The strip-till technology involves sowing in tilled strips with a row spacing of 70 cm and using real-time kinematic positioning with an accuracy of up to 2.5 cm. This practice helps not only ensure high precision and efficiency of technological operations but also reduce fuel consumption, limit soil moisture evaporation, and prevent wind erosion.

Lately, strip-till technology, known as STRiP-TiLL, has been attracting increased attention from agrarians, with its main goal being to save costs in the cultivation of agricultural crops. Under the STRiP-TiLL technology, fields are tilled and loosened only in strips corresponding to the future planting rows. The rest of the field remains untouched. Currently, the STRiP-TiLL technology is relatively young, having emerged about 25 to 30 years ago. The technology shares similarities with zero tillage, yet incorporates elements of traditional farming systems.
