The World Boxing Council (WBC) has released its updated rankings for the best boxers in the light-heavyweight division, with former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk unexpectedly taking the top spot.

After more than a two-year hiatus, Gvozdyk made a comeback in 2023. His last fight took place on June 15 against American David Benavidez, where he fought for the interim WBC light-heavyweight title. The match went the full 12 rounds and ended in a unanimous decision in favor of Benavidez. Gvozdyk's resurgence in the rankings highlights his resilience and skill, promising exciting prospects in his boxing career ahead.
