Over 10,000 hectars of farmlands sold in Ukraine since market opening

As of August 10, 2021, the total area of ​​sold land plots exceeded 10,000 hectares. More than 5,000 agreements were registered in the Ukrainian market of agricultural lands.


For the period from July 1 to August 9 this year, transactions for 10,161 hectares of land were registered in Ukraine. Most land plots were sold in Poltava region (1,276,4 hectares) and Kharkov region (1,171,8 hectares).

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports that 5,206 agreements have been concluded within the land market so far. A total of 4,532 notaries have applied for access to the State Land Cadastre. A total of 5,082 applications have been filed, of which 4,473 were approved, 17 are pending consideration, 592 – were rejected.

On July 1, 2021, the land market was officially launched in Ukraine. Until 2024, only private persons and citizens of Ukraine will be able to buy agricultural land with a limit of 100 hectares. The new land market law still prohibits foreigners from buying land. The issue of selling land to stateless persons and foreigners will be decided on a national referendum.
