The U.S. Department of Defense assures that once Congress approves the funding bill for further support to Ukraine, the first package of military assistance will include weapons that are most essential for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Sabrina Singh, the deputy Pentagon spokesperson, made this statement on Thursday.
"In terms of the weapons that we're thinking about sending, we know that the main priorities for Ukraine remain air defense and artillery ammunition," noted the Pentagon representative.
Therefore, according to her, the next aid package for Ukraine will primarily address the priorities identified by the Ukrainian forces, which were discussed at recent meetings of the Defense Cooperation Group of Ukraine.
Furthermore, in response to inquiries about the possibility of supplying ATACMS to Ukraine, Singh mentioned that nothing is ruled out from consideration. However, she emphasized that this would primarily require Congress to pass the bill with additional funding for U.S. national security needs.
