Several Danish municipalities have fallen victim to DDoS attacks, which were likely organized by pro-Russian hackers, reported the director of the Danish Cybersecurity Centre (CFCS), Mark Fidel.
This was reported by Cphpost.
The attacks affected the websites of cities such as Vejle, Albertslund, Dragør, Esbjerg, Frederiksberg, Frederikshavn, Greve, Guldborgsund, Haderslev, Hedensted, Horsens, Ikast-Brande, Mariagerfjord, Morsø, Næstved, Aabenraa, and Aarhus. Fidel noted that such actions are often carried out by pro-Russian cyber-activists, who regularly target Denmark.
According to him, the purpose of these attacks is to draw attention to their actions. Hackers choose symbolic targets connected to Denmark's support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
CFCS managed to prevent a number of potential attacks, but in some cases, the damage was unavoidable. Specialists continue to work on addressing the aftermath and strengthening defenses against similar threats.
