As part of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Pimedate Ööde filmifestival, PÖFF), which will take place from November 3 to 19, five Ukrainian films will be showcased. This was announced by the State Agency of Ukraine for Film Affairs.
Among the films competing for the main competition prize at the festival is the dramatic movie "Oxygen Station" by Ivan Tymchenko, created in co-production with Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Slovakia.
Additionally, the festival program "Best of Festivals" includes Anna Buryachkova's film "Forever Forever," which had its world premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival in September. Another film, "Steppe" by Marina Vroda, has been in the making for over ten years and had its world premiere at this year's Locarno International Film Festival, where it received an award for Best Director.
In the documentary section, as part of the "Children's Rights" program, they will screen Alice Kovalenko's film "We Will Not Fade Away." This film, a co-production of Ukraine, France, Poland, and the USA, was created with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine on Cinema, the Polish Film Institute, and IDFA Bertha Fund - Classic Post-production. The world premiere of "We Will Not Dim" took place at the Berlinale 2023 in February.
As mentioned earlier, within the framework of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), there will also be the world premiere of the comedy film "Tolerance Lessons" by Ukrainian director Arkadiy Nepytaliuk.
The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) was first held in 1997. Since 2014, PÖFF has been one of the 15 A-category film festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations.
Today, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, together with IndustryTallinn & Baltic Event, and its two sub-festivals, Just Film and PÖFF Shorts, has become one of the largest film festivals in Northern Europe and the most active regional industry platform.
