In London, a short film titled Romchyk, based on real events about an 8-year-old boy who lost his mother and suffered burns during a rocket attack in Vinnytsia on July 14, 2022, will be produced.

On 14 July 2022 Roma Oleksiv, lost his mother and sustained burns to his body in a deadly missile attack. Despite being medically evacuated to a specialist clinic in Germany doctors were not sure he would be able to walk, let alone dance. But after 32 surgeries, and his amazing resilient spirit. He made a miraculous comeback and now enjoys ballroom dancing. 

"During rehearsals and in everyday life, he endures stares, mockery, and misunderstanding. Despite this, he participates in ballroom dance competitions and wins. Roma's victory is interrupted by the sound of a cardiometer when he emerges from a four-month coma," the film team describes the plot.

"It's not just the story of one boy; it's the story of millions of children whose lives will never be the same due to war," the authors add.

The film will be produced by Goldsmiths, University of London, with the idea and production by Konstantin Bidnenko. A fundraising campaign for the film is also launched on Kickstarter, and contributions can be made through the provided link.
