On the night of November 3, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Approximately 40 drones were used for the attack, and 24 of them were successfully destroyed, as stated by the Air Force. In addition, a guided aviation missile, the X-59, was eliminated.
The drones were launched in waves, heading in various directions in small groups. Anti-aircraft defenses were active in most regions, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
UPD: The President's Office clarified that the anti-aircraft defense system was operational in ten regions: Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Lviv.
Incidents related to the attack were reported in the Lviv and Odessa regions. In Kharkiv, an educational institution was damaged as a result of the attack.
Lviv region
In the Lviv region, 11 drones were destroyed, and there were five recorded incidents targeting critical infrastructure. A fire that occurred at one of the targeted sites was extinguished, and there were no casualties. In total, 16 hostile attack drones were reported to be heading towards western Ukraine, according to Maxim Kozytsky, the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Odessa region
In the Odessa region, the anti-aircraft defense system destroyed two drones. There was an incident involving an infrastructure object's technical area. However, there were no reported casualties or significant damage.
Kharkiv region
Regarding the attack in Kharkiv, preliminary information indicates that four kamikaze drones targeted the city. The attack resulted in partial destruction of an educational institution, damage to residential buildings, an auto service center, economic structures, and vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
UPDATE 9:45. In the Osnovyanskyi district, three drones were intercepted, and another one was detected in the Shevchenkivskyi district, as reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. Additionally, two non-residential buildings in the suburbs caught fire. Preliminary information suggests that the incident was caused by attacks from five UAVs.
