A resident of Lutsk, Katerina Pozharska, has received the prestigious international mathematics award "Joseph F. Traub Information-Based Complexity Young Researcher Award 2023."

This was reported on the page of the Faculty of Information Technology and Mathematics at Volyn National University, where Katerina studied.

Katerina Pozharska received the award for her significant contributions to the theory of information-based complexity. As mentioned by the faculty, this award is given annually to only one young mathematician in the world who has not yet reached the age of 35.

The award consists of $1,000 USD and a commemorative plaque, as stated on the Joseph F. Traub Award website. The award was granted to Katerina by a committee composed of previous winners of the award.

Katerina Pozharska completed her studies at Volyn National University in 2015. Currently, she works as a research fellow in the Department of Function Theory at the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Additionally, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the city of Chemnitz, Germany.

The team that Katerina Pozharska is currently part of is involved in researching contemporary problems in the theory of approximation and the development of algorithms to reduce information complexity, with applications in machine learning.
