The interim Chairman of the board of "Ukrzaliznytsia" Alexander Kamyshin promised to soon launch a new diesel train on the route between Odessa and Izmail and called it "Bessarabian Express".
At the forum "Big construction: a new railway" held in Kyiv, acting Alexander Kamyshin, the head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, spoke about where the new diesel trains produced by the Kryukovsky Carriage Works will run. According to the chief railway worker, this year, Ukrzaliznytsia paid for the delivery of five diesel trains. Two of them have already been commissioned. One more will arrive before the end of this year, the last two in 2022.
Speaking about these two diesel trains, Kamyshin noted that they will be used on the routes of regional express trains. One will run in the Odessa region - between Odessa and Izmail under the name "Bessarabian Express". The second, most likely, will connect Kharkiv and Donetsk regions on the Southern Railway under the name "Slobozhansky Express".
We have prepaid five new diesel trains; the first two have already been taken away. They will be on regional express trains soon. Probably to Bessarabsky and, probably, to Slobozhansky. We are negotiating with the local authorities, and we want them to join the co-financing of our regional express trains,
Alexander Kamyshin
Also, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia noted that the company, for the first time in a long time, creates infrastructure for high-quality transportation - in the form of new diesel trains, new passenger cars, modernized electric trains, and so on. And already, with the new rolling stock, the railway turns to local authorities with a proposal to co-finance certain flights.
We need to find a model that will allow us to co-finance new trains based on the PSO model. When we did not have further trains, it was difficult for us to come to the local authorities and ask them for financial support. Now, when we provide them with qualitatively new infrastructure, qualitatively new cars, and passenger services, we already have the right and the opportunity to talk with them about co-financing.
Alexander Kamyshin
The route "Odessa - Izmail" is the same passenger train project, which was developed in 2017 in the format of an accelerated diesel train - a regional express between Izmail and Odessa. Considering the optimization of timetables and the use of modern rolling stock on the current railway line, it is quite possible to get a train travel time of 4 - 4.5 hours, which will be strictly observed. For comparison - the current passenger train "Kyiv - Odessa - Izmail" runs, on average, from Odessa to Izmail 6 - 6.5 hours, and buses - 3-4 hours.
On the way, the train will have 8-10 stops. Most likely, these will be the stations Katlabukh, Dzinilor, Glavany, Artsyz, Sarata, Kulevcha, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky, Bugaz, Karolino-Bugaz and Akkarzha.
The train will be named âBessarabian Expressâ. It will be launched before the end of this year, tentatively in December.
