On the night of June 22 (starting at 9:00 p.m. on June 21), Russian forces launched an attack using two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh and Rostov regions, an S-300 surface-to-air guided missile from occupied territory in Donetsk region, and 47 Shahed-type strike UAVs along with various types of decoy drones from the directions of Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).
The main target of the strike was Chernihiv region.
The air assault was repelled by aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 9:00 a.m., air defense forces had neutralized 28 Russian UAVs (Shahed and other types) over northern, eastern, and southern Ukraine:
- 18 drones were destroyed by direct fire,
- 10 were lost from radar tracking or suppressed by electronic warfare.
Impacts from Russian air attacks were recorded in seven locations, including Chernihiv, Sumy, and Odessa regions.
