The Munich-based manufacturer of anti-drone systems, Alpine Eagle, has raised €10.25 million in a Seed round from European investors. Their systems were tested by the German army and are now being tested in Ukraine, according to TechCrunch.

The round was led by the British venture capital firm IQ Capital, specializing in deep tech. This is no coincidence, as the United Kingdom will become a key market for the startup in its expansion.

The new funding will help Alpine Eagle expand its team of machine learning specialists and aviation engineers, with new hires in product development, engineering, business development, and sales, increasing the company’s staff to 40 people.

Traditional counter-drone systems, such as ground-based protection systems and cyber weapons, are often costly. Therefore, the startup is focused on developing affordable systems to create symmetry against the overwhelming numbers of cheap strike drones.

Founded in 2023, Alpine Eagle has developed the Sentinel. Unlike ground-based solutions, Sentinel operates in the air. Thanks to modular sensors, the system is not dependent on terrain and obstacles, making it less vulnerable as a stationary target.

Its "mother ship" not only detects or jams threats but also launches kamikaze interceptors that can capture enemy drones using nets or completely destroy them.
