On Tuesday, March 25, an explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in the village of Boržiny in central Czechia.

This was reported by ČTK Ceske Noviny.

According to media reports, the explosion occurred today at 08:45 local time at the STV Group factory warehouse in the Polička Svitavy district. This facility manufactures large-caliber ammunition and is involved in military equipment repairs and supplying spare parts.

Preliminary information indicates that one person has been severely injured and was airlifted to a hospital. People from nearby areas have been evacuated. There is no danger to local residents. Several nearby roads have been closed.

The likely cause of the explosion is a violation of the technological process. It is noted that the warehouse where the explosion occurred is not only used for storing but also for manufacturing large-caliber ammunition.

It is worth noting that the Czech Republic plays a key role in supplying ammunition to Ukraine, organizing large-scale purchases, and coordinating international initiatives for their production. The Czech government, together with its EU and NATO partners, launched a project to procure 155mm and 122mm artillery shells.

Czechia is also increasing its own ammunition production, particularly for artillery and armored vehicles. Czech defense companies are ramping up shell production and modernizing old Soviet-era stocks to supply them to Ukraine. This not only strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities but also enhances Czechia's role in the European military-industrial complex.
