Thanks to the operation of the maritime corridor, Ukrainian farmers today export 100% of their surplus production, emphasized co-owner and CEO of the TIS terminal group, Andriy Stavnitzer, during the opening of the international conference Grain Ukraine.

“We quickly got used to the fact that the ports are working, but the maritime corridors are an extraordinary achievement of our air-sea forces and drones. Our team and the bravest farmers in the world contribute to ensuring that the wheels of global food security do not stop,” he stressed.

The Ukrainian agricultural sector remains a key driver of foreign trade. In critical times, grain kept things afloat and helped preserve the collective, Stavnitzer says.

“It became the ‘Plan B’ for those market participants who specialized in metal or containers before the full-scale invasion,” he notes.

According to the TIS co-owner, despite all the resources Russia threw in to take Ukraine’s niche, especially in 2022-2023, the farmers managed to stand firm and provide a key flow of foreign currency revenue to the war-torn economy of the country.

“Under bombs and constant pressure, we managed to rebuild and look to the future,” Stavnitzer emphasizes. He adds that now the share of agro-processing inside the country is growing. And it’s not just about oil, flour, or feed.
