Australia has contributed an additional €6 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, as reported by the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Energy. The funds will address key immediate needs within Ukraine's energy sector.

"We thank our Australian partners for their support of Ukraine and the energy sector during these difficult times. We continue to restore and rebuild equipment damaged by the enemy, and thanks to the assistance of our partners, we are bringing light and heat back to the homes of millions of Ukrainian families," said Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko.

As a reminder, Australia announced its additional contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund at the end of 2024. This brings Australia's total contribution to approximately €18 million.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 through a joint initiative by Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko and EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, under the Energy Community Secretariat.

To date, partner contributions to the fund have exceeded €1 billion. Donors include both public and private sectors from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the UK, the US, and international and regional organizations.

Since its establishment, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy workers to restore energy infrastructure after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities.
