The charitable project Behind Blue Eyes has released a collection of photographs taken by children in frontline and deoccupied villages of Ukraine.
The collection features over 200 photos taken by children using disposable film cameras between 2022 and 2024. It summarizes the expeditions of the charitable project to 19 villages in the North, South, and East of Ukraine. The images in the collection are arranged chronologically. Most pages are personalized and showcase the film taken by each child, with their name, age, and location indicated. The book is pocket-sized.
"This creates a sense of miniaturism and connection to something small, something childlike," says Behind Blue Eyes.
The book is complemented by wishlists, where children share their dreams: cosmetics, phone cases, electric scooters, dreams of becoming an artist, learning Korean, and a desire to no longer hear explosions and see the end of the war.
The Behind Blue Eyes book can be purchased on the website for UAH 1000. All proceeds from the book sales will go toward supporting creative activities for children in the regions where the project operates. The collection was created in partnership with Readellion Publishing and Havhav Bureau.
