Belarus will conduct military drills near the border with Ukraine, lasting until January 31.
This was reported by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
According to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, from January 8 to 31, under the leadership of the head of the Gomel District Executive Committee, a training assembly will be held with reservists of the territorial forces.
During the assembly, the following will be carried out:
- Reception of reservists of territorial forces and their comprehensive support using the local mobilization deployment base;
- Restoration of the command staff's skills in managing subordinates;
- Training of reservists to perform tasks, including in cooperation with engineering units of the Armed Forces.
According to the monitoring channel Belaruski Hajun, during the assembly in Belarus, there will be a call-up of reservists from the reserve. Additionally, the command of the infantry battalion will restore skills in managing subordinate units. It is likely that the assembly will also focus on the formation of people's militia units.
It is worth noting that the Gomel region has become the first region in Belarus where, in 2025, training with territorial defense will take place. This region borders Ukraine's Chernihiv region.
