Boyko Easter eggs, Lviv bell-ringing, the tradition of making ‘covered cabbage,’ and ‘Horodok weaving’ are now included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine has added new elements to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ukraine. Among them:

  • The tradition of bell-ringing in Lviv;

 

  • The culture of preparing and consuming 'covered cabbage' in the Lviv region;

 

  • The tradition of creating Boyko Easter eggs with a pin;

 

  • The ritual of setting up a 'pillar' in Pereiaslav region;

 

  • The program for preserving the tradition of covering houses with straw and reed at the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Architecture and Life;

 

  • The embroidery technique known as 'Horodok stitch' or 'Horodok embroidery'.

 

From now on, local communities are required to take measures to consider the recommendations and proposals of the Expert Council on Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine regarding the protection of elements of intangible cultural heritage.
