Canada’s contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has increased to 50 million Canadian dollars, or 40.1 million euros.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

"The Government of Canada has contributed an additional 33.4 million euros (50 million Canadian dollars) to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. As a result, the country’s total contribution to the Fund has increased to 40.1 million euros (60 million Canadian dollars)," the statement reads.

Canada has also pledged a future contribution of 6.7 million euros (10 million Canadian dollars) to the Fund.

Part of Canada’s new contribution will be directed toward supporting the energy supply for critical social infrastructure in the healthcare sector through the development of solar power systems, the ministry stated.

"Canada is proud to strengthen its partnership with the Energy Community Secretariat to help Ukraine restore its critical infrastructure," emphasized Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 as a joint initiative of Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko and EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson under the Energy Community Secretariat.

Currently, announced partner contributions to the Fund exceed 1 billion euros. The Fund's donors include both public and private sectors from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as international and regional organizations.

Since its inception, the Fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to restore energy facilities after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities.
